Governors
Welcome to our Governors’ section.
The governors’ aims are to support the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team in the day-to-day running of the school. They are ultimately responsible for the school and are active in areas of Curriculum, finance, Health and Safety, premises and staffing. They meet termly for a full governing body meeting and the sub-committees meet termly if and when required. Each governor is linked with a subject area or aspect within the school.
What is a School Governor?
Governors are a group of people who reflects the school’s community. Improving school performance is the main priority of the governing body. Working alongside the headteacher and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the governing body plays a crucial part in providing the appropriate learning opportunities and environment that encourages young people to succeed.
Governors have a strategic role involves ensuring that the school has clear aims and vision that is supported by the school community. In this role the governors work closely with staff to ensure the school has all the resources it needs and that these are used effectively and in line with the agreed plans. The governors’ role as a critical friend involves monitoring and evaluating how the school is progressing towards its aims. As a critical friend, governors need to ask difficult questions but also need to celebrate the successes of the school.
